Description
The Samura Reptile slicing knife has a long, narrow 274 mm blade for clean, thin slices. It is made for slicing meat, poultry and fish with precision and control, and it also handles vegetables, fruit, bread and sausage. The blade is AUS-10 stainless steel with a convex edge, and the ribbed handle is stainless steel.
Blade and steel
The blade is made from a single layer of AUS-10 stainless steel, hardened to 59–61 HRC. A hard blade holds its edge for a long time, so you spend more time cutting and less time sharpening. AUS-10 is a corrosion-resistant stainless steel, and it stays in good condition when you wash and dry the knife soon after use.
The edge has the convex sharpening of the Reptile series: the bevel is gently rounded rather than ground flat. The blade is 274 mm long and 41 mm high, with a satin finish, and its long, narrow shape helps you make clean, precise cuts.
Handle and balance
The silver handle is made of stainless steel and has the ribbed shape that marks the Reptile series. The series is designed around an ultra-light weight, and together with the ribbed handle this lets the knife sit comfortably in your hand. It weighs 147 g net and measures 421 mm overall.
Best uses
- Slicing thin cuts of meat and poultry
- Slicing fish
- Slicing vegetables and fruit
- Cutting bread
- Slicing sausage
Care and sharpening
Rinse the knife with hot water and wipe it dry before first use. After that, wash it by hand with non-abrasive materials and wipe it dry; a dishwasher is not recommended, and the knife should not be left in the sink for long. Cut on wooden or plastic boards, never on glass, leave bones to a SAMURA cleaver and frozen food to a double-sided saw knife with a serrated blade, and store the knife in a brush block or knife holder where the blade does not touch metal items. Use a honing rod between sharpenings and sharpen on a whetstone at the original factory bevel angle of 15–17°.
About the Reptile series
