The details
A closer look
The Samura Artefact paring knife is made for precise, detailed work with fruit and vegetables. Its 97 mm blade gives you the control you need for peeling, trimming and slicing small produce. The blade is 5-layer AUS-10 Damascus steel with a stonewash finish, and the handle is grey stainless steel.
Blade and steel
The blade is made from AUS-10 Damascus steel built up in 5 layers and hardened to 59–61 HRC. This hardness helps the edge stay keen through daily cutting, and a whetstone brings it back when it needs sharpening. The blade is sharpened by hand and has a double-bevel edge, ground on both sides for simple upkeep.
The stonewash finish gives the blade a matte surface that helps to hide scratches and wear over time and makes fingerprints less visible.
Handle and balance
The handle is made of grey stainless steel with the same stonewash finish as the blade. The textured steel handle gives the knife an all-metal look. The knife weighs 73 g and measures 221 mm overall.
Best uses
- Peeling fruit and vegetables
- Trimming vegetables
- Slicing small fruit and vegetables
- Detailed cutting tasks that need close control
Care and sharpening
Before first use, rinse the knife with hot water and wipe it dry. Wash it by hand with non-abrasive materials and wipe it dry; a dishwasher is not recommended, and do not leave it in the sink for long. Use it on wooden or plastic boards, never on glass, and store it in a brush block or knife holder where the blade does not touch metal items. Use a honing rod between sharpenings and resharpen on a whetstone at the original factory bevel angle of 15–17°.
About the Artefact series
The Artefact collection pairs a prehistoric look with modern blade quality, inspired by the minimalism of humanity's earliest tools, and its stonewash finish gives every knife a cold, stony feel. Each blade is made of 5 layers of AUS-10 steel and sharpened by hand, and like all SAMURA knives, each Artefact knife comes with a 2-year warranty.

Care & sharpening
Keep it sharp
- Before first use, rinse with hot water and wipe dry.
- Use only on wooden or plastic cutting boards, never on glass.
- Take care with food that contains bones: use a SAMURA cleaver for meat and bones and a double-sided saw knife with a serrated blade for frozen food.
- Clean by hand with non-abrasive materials and wipe dry. A dishwasher is not recommended.
- Do not leave knives in the sink for a long time.
- Store in a brush block or knife holder so that the blade does not touch metal items.
- Sharpen on a whetstone and keep the original factory bevel angle of 15–17°. Use a honing rod between sharpenings, moving the edge along the rod from the handle to the point.
- Never test sharpness with bare hands; use a piece of paper.
